The GREEN MOTION system eliminates fossil fuel used by sailing yachts in any way. Electrical energy is generated with the system and is stored in lithium-ion batteries. It will generate sufficient energy to be used for propulsion, hot water, cooking and all electrical equipment on board. When batteries are fully charged or high speed is required (race) the lifted Motogens* eliminate the drag from the propulsion system and this increases the speed of the yacht (between 5 - 15%). Free of smoke, noise, soot and vibration It produces no smoke, soot, noise or vibration and is maintenance free. The energy production on board is sufficient to power navigation systems, cook, make hot water and motor the boat in case of harbour movement or no wind conditions. In a way it is almost perpetual mobile but we need wind or sunshine or a combination. In addition to the generation taking place with the electric Motogens* we also use solar panels and a wind generator to supply extra energy when at anchor. Development While thinking about electrical propulsion systems we immediately found a contradiction in the present electrical propulsion; an electrical motor has a very high torque from zero rpm and needs a large propeller to work efficiently. A large propeller on an electrical system works as a brake in the water. This was the reason to develop our retractable propulsion/generation system.
