Your suggestions for improvement:
A boat refrigeration unit is used to chill the interior of an insulated compartment such as a refrigerator, a freezer or a cooler. NauticExpo offers models intended for use aboard leisure craft.
ApplicationsThese devices provide considerable added comfort when cruising during the summer cruises or in hot regions. They are mostly found aboard cruising boats. They are particularly suited to transforming a simple ice chest into a refrigerator.
TechnologiesThere are two principal technologies for generating cold. In the first, a refrigerant gas such as freon is compressed. When it is allowed to expand again, it lowers the temperature of a plate installed in the compartment to be chilled. On the other hand, eutectic systems use seawater to cool the compartment. They require the installation of a plate under the hull.
Compressor-based units must themselves be cooled, either by seawater or air. The first necessitates a through-hull fitting, while the second requires a fan.
The size of the unit is the main element to consider. It must be installed close to the compartment to be cooled. Its power will be chosen as a function of the volume to be refrigerated.
Some can run on multiple power sources including the on-board 12- or 24-V direct current system, 110/220-V AC shore power or a generator set. Certain models can also be powered by butane or propane. Check the manufacturer's noise level specifications. Some models can be quite noisy.
