Your suggestions for improvement:

A sensor, or transducer converts one type of measured value into another, more useful form. For example, a thermometer is a transducer which converts temperature into a column of mercury of a particular height.
ApplicationsSensors found on boats include those linked to acoustic depth sounders, those measuring the temperature of the marine environment and logs indicating vessel speed.
TechnologiesThese devices are differentiated primarily by installation type and constituent materials. Through-hull versions occupy more space than others. Surface-mounted models require holes in the hull for electrical wiring and data transfer cables. Other types are mounted entirely within the hull. Sensor materials must be compatible with those of the hull to avoid corrosion due to galvanic current.
How to chooseChoice will depend on the type of measurement to be made, installation configuration and hull material.
