ApplicationsThese devices can facilitate diving by grouping in one place all useful data, including depth and elapsed time, remaining air (pressure gauge), orientation (compass) and the range of information offered by a dive computer (decompression stops, dive time, etc.).
TechnologiesConsoles commonly take the form of a protective rubber boot with openings for gauge dials and a hole in one end for the hose connecting the pressure gauge to the tank. The console can be left to dangle from this hose or be hooked to the BC. Different models hold two, three or even four or more instruments, including those mounted on the back side. Some are angled to facilitate reading.
How to chooseChoice of gauges and, hence, console will be determined by personal preference and diving style. Certain consoles work best with gauges made by the same manufacturer.
