Your suggestions for improvement:
Hiking pants offer thermal protection and support for dinghy sailors when hiking out, improving comfort especially during during long tacks in the trapeze.
ApplicationsThese garments are useful both when training and racing, especially for the dinghy crew who spends long periods hiked out in double-handed races.
TechnologiesSuch pants resemble wetsuits. They can cover all or part of the body, the legs reaching the ankles or just below the knees. Most are sleeveless for maximum upper-body freedom of movement. They are usually made of neoprene of varying thickness and flexibility. The material is often more supple over the joints, thicker and reinforced around friction points such as buttocks, thighs and knees.
Some can be equipped with rigid strips or plates under the thighs to ease the strain of long periods hiked out. Such devices are usually adjustable. Models with built-in trapeze straps require no harness. Spandex tops or waterproof jackets are often worn over the pants for extra protection.
Choice will depend on the wearer's sex, height, weight and age. Season and water temperature will determine appropriate thickness and length.
