To celebrate our 10th anniversary Agena Marin created a fully sustainable, eco-friendly and cost-effective commercial boat in attractive retro lines, named Solar Ferry. This eye-catching vessel uses only solar and battery power sources, has a length of 8.5 m (27 ft.), and can accommodate up to 12 passengers on board. The boat’s first public display was at the Biograd Boat Show (Oct 22–25,2020) and immediately received first orders, including Nature park Vrana lake, Croatia.
The historic boat's line was inspired by the vessels built around the 1920s. We envision Solar Ferry to be ideal for specific tourist offers, such as "champagne cruising", harbour ferry, family gathering or similar tours by sea or lake. Concept can be comparable to horse and carriage ride in cities. “However, the boat's design is not only about aesthetics; the hull is designed for minimal resistance and impact on eco system. Solar ferry has 1700 W of photovoltic panels to power electric engine. This is true zero emission boat and you can really sail at zero costs.
Besides the retro hull and solar panels, the boat's construction is also economical. It is built with a vacuum infusion technique, using a very light "sandwich" core made of recycled PET material. Not only does that reduce the overall weight of the boat; it provides a critical eco-friendly component. The anticipated boat speed will be 5.5 knots, and the solar roof capacity enables five to eight hours of uninterrupted rides, depending on the speed and load.
