Rotating for boat propeller shafts seal BLUE WATER

Chatfield Marine has developed a propeller shaft flexible seal unit designed to be retrofitted to existing stern tube assemblies or installed in new boats— the Blue Water Seal. This is a proven system that is NZ MSA approved for use in commercial boats and is now used as standard equipment by well known boat builders. The seal element can be easily removed should it be damaged or need replacing with no need to replace the entire unit as new seals elements are readily available from our spare parts department The Blue Water Seal has a built-in safety feature to keep sea water out of the boat. If the seal element is damaged the seal retaining plate can be converted into a gland follower by placing a ring of greasy hemp gland packing under it to form an effective temporary seal allowing a replacement to be fitted at leisure. These water cooled units are manufactured from cast admiralty bronze, chosen for its excellent bearing and salt water resistant properties. They are available for 25-76mm (1”- 3”) shaft diameters.
