Poole based husband and wife team Colin and Bobi Francis have just taken delivery of their new 6.2m Cheetah Catamaran.
'Boblin 2' has been built by Cheetah Marine to the Francis's specification as an angling and leisure boat.
Colin has a string of awards which reflect his passion for angling including a bronze medal in the CIPS World Casting Championships and Army Shore Angling Champion in 2008. As a boat fishing enthusiast Colin chose a Cheetah for its fishing abilities and seaworthiness which was demonstrated aboard the demonstrator 'Free Spirit' from the Isle of Wight's most southern harbour at Ventnor Haven.
The Francis's chose the 6.2m Cheetah with the long wheelhouse where they plan to fit a large double berth conversion. Colin will also be installing the electronics - a comprehensive Garmin and Lowrance package. On the return journey from Cheetah's base at Ventnor Haven to Poole Harbour 'Boblin 2' achieved top speeds of 25 knots with twin Honda 50hp outboards and averaged 10 knots at an economical 3000 revs.
Colin Francis comments
'We've had her out with quite a sea running and she handles well. We are still adjusting to the jump from monohull to catamaran. She is very stable at anchor and has a good sized deck to enable 4 people to fish comfortably."
