Couplings are the elements that transfer torque from gearbox to the shaft and because of their role they are under strict supervision of class societies. Couplings are designed, machined and tested including NDT tests strictly to IACS rules for class jobs.
CJR can offer a range of shaft couplings:
keyed tapered
keyless tapered
parallel clamped
Bespoke couplings can be designed to overcome common issues whereby there is limited space inboard. Coupling and key calculations can be carried out to ensure the optimum and safest design is provided to solve the issue.
MANUFACTURING
Majority of couplings are manufactured with mild steel as standard. Other materials such high tensile steel are available if required.
Materials are sourced from mills approved by IACS if required
Tapered couplings can be manufactured for standard tapered keyed connections to: ISO 1:10, SAE 1:16 or BS marine standard 1:12, as well as keyless tapered 1:30. Any other non-standard taper can also be machined.
INSTALLATION
For keyed coupling-shaft connections CJR offers a hydraulic pusher/puller for quick and simple coupling and propeller attachment as well as Propsmith, a mechanical system for easy propeller fitting and removal.
For keyless connection CJR can offer a complete hydraulic fitting kit including hydraulic SKF pushing nut and hydraulic pump to expand the boss.
AFTERSALES SUPPORT
Any shaft and coupling misalignment problems can be quickly diagnosed using TrialsAPP prior to disconnecting without removing the shaft from the boat for inspection as well as the added benefit of not having to lift the vessel from the water unnecessarily.
