Our customer came to us after bending his rudder shaft twice (even with a shoal-depth rudder). On his request we came up with a design that shortened rudder span slightly while giving a corresponding increase in chord length, for the same total rudder area. This should prevent future grounding problems - at least his keel will hit first now.
