With all the new studies coming out from agencies like the NTSB, the faithful bowline knot is not as reliable as the industry understood. All new results are showing a high strength loss with age of the towline. We as an industry are being encouraged by the towline companies and agencies to go to a spliced eye in the line to connect a parasail, but this would make it difficult when changing the parasails from size to size during the day.
So, we have been working with the towline companies to develop the Parasail Quick Link (also known as the Parasail Soft Shackle), this is custom built for parasailing with Polyester fibers. The quick link allows easy connection between the parasail and towline, which turns out to be quicker than tying a bowline knot. With testing the quick link, it has shown to have lower strength loss over time of use.
parasail quick link (pql) - Towlines & Accessories
As well as connecting the parasail to the towline, the Parasail Quick Link is used as the necessary safety weak link between the flying machine (Parasail) and towing vehicle (Vessel). A quick link can be used for up to 500 fight rotations and currently we have three strengths available, to allow for operator to choose their comfort level and protection factor for their operations unique criteria:

White PQL is suitable for all sizes of parasail if used within their operational parameters, tested breaking load 4900 lbs. (+/- 250 lbs.). This equivalent strength of a bowline tied in a towline of 9000 lbs. in strength.
