Launching and recovery of the life raft are done by a winch with manual drive.
Lowering of a fully loaded life raft is done by gravity. Hoisting of the liferaft, including equipment and the launching crew, is done manually.
For embarkation the davit arm will bring out the life raft to the ship side. This is done manually by means of a spindle mechanism.
In case of more than one raft the winch drum has a special “quick return" function for fast hoisting of the empty hook.
