Rescue vessels know no limits: they put to sea when others seek the protection of a safe harbour. It is this feature in particular that stands out in the design of Fassmer’s vessel built for the German Maritime Search and Rescue Association.
The 46m SAR vessel “Hermann Marwede” was designed for safe operation even under the worst weather and sea conditions. Boasting first-class technical equipment, including on-board training facilities, it is self-righting, has seawater-resistant aluminium alloy double shell plating, and a triple engine arrangement located in two separate watertight engine rooms. The 9.5m self-righting daughter boat is operated by means of an automatic stern launching system.
