KDX-I, the first Korean destroyer built by Hanwha Ocean, is an all-weather destroyer with anti-aircraft/anti-ship/anti-submarine defense and attack capabilities. Hanwha Ocean’s proven shipbuilding expertise led to a contract to build and successfully deliver three additional destroyers based on the KDX-I design. This milestone showcased our advanced ship design and construction technologies.
Successful Integration of Combat Systems, Weapons, and Various Sensors
The combat systems, close-in weapon systems, ship-to-air missiles, and various sensors equipped by KDX-I are seamlessly integrated, enabling the ship to carry out all-weather attack and defense operations effectively.
Transformation into a Next-generation Destroyer through Performance Improvement
For the first time in South Korea, Hanwha Ocean has completed a performance improvement project to replace old destroyers’ equipment with Hanwha System’s Korean-style combat system, which serves as the brain of a ship, as well as various sensors and Link-16, the military tactical data exchange network used by NATO. The vessels have been transformed into next-generation destroyers and are currently sailing the sea.
