This specialized hospital ship provides essential medical assistance for maritime emergencies and humanitarian operations. Multipurpose Supportability Including Replenishment at Sea In addition to supplying oil, fresh water, food, and ammunition to the Norwegian Navy and NATO forces at sea, this ship is fully capable of conducting both military and humanitarian missions. Equipped with two RAS rigs for liquid and solid cargo, the ship also features facilities including a crane capable of loading 40 20-ft containers. This setup ensures swift and versatile support for a wide range of tasks. The ship's hybrid propulsion system optimizes power management by using the generator and propulsion motor for middle-low speed operations, while the diesel engine drives high-speed mode. This configuration ensures efficient performance across a wide range of speeds, seamlessly adapting to various operational demands. Its hybrid system, based on a shaft generator with PTI/PTO modes, efficiently converts excess diesel engine power into the ship’s energy source.
