The recirculating cars allow easy single handed loading of the sail luff tabs. The spring loaded retainer is depressed allowing the release of the pin (without letting it fall out). Sliding cars use the same recirculating track as ball bearing cars for the big and small versions. Sliding cars are easily removed from the track using a track gate.
