The SuperFreak Maui Edition took everything we loves about the SuperFreak, (and that is nearly everything) and combined it with all the most contemporary pure wave sail features.
The result for 2016 is a lighter sail with a much more loose leech, extreme maneuverability, and is very lightweight yet tough. It is designed for wave riding and also for freestyle as there is more room for your body to move in extreme moves. Landing jumps like a back loop is easier with the looser leech. Power is strong; with better pull out of low wind situations due to the increased shape below the boom.
The 2 battens directly above the boom are both 90% in length, stopping just short of the mast sleeve. This batten design provides a super controllable, luffable sail that can be powered or de-powered in an instant. New for 2016 is the addition of our lightweight OX Webbing sleeve that is nearly indestructible and absorbs 70% less water than the old OX webbing. It makes a big difference is sail weight as the older sails used a very thick 2.5mm thick polyester webbing that was tough, but absorbed a lot of water as the sail aged.
The SFME now is made with SLAMLAM® laminated window for lighter weight and extreme cold water durability. Overall the sails have lost between 300 and 500g of weight in this year's model vs. older ones!
