A lifeboat, mounted on the stern of a ship and launched in a free-fall manner, is required to be installed on all bulk carriers that are built from May 2007.
Due to the fact that it takes a lot of escape time with the davit winch used in launching a conventional lifeboat and because it is difficult to utilize the space of deck House properly due to the way of installing each one on both sides of the main line, recently, free-fall boats are more preferred.
