Monopile Donut fenders are designed to protect ships by freely floating up and down with the tide on a stationary steel monopile either inserted into the bed or fixed on the face of a quay wall while providing an energy absorbing fender system.
Construction of a Donut fender is much the same as a Foam Filled Floating Fender made from closed cell energy absorbing foam protected by a polyurethane elastomer skin and reinforced with nylon tire cord for consistent performance over years of service. A heavy duty galvanized steel sleeve is built into the donut fender, mounted with internal UHMW pads that allow the donut fender free movement along the steel monopile assisting in lining up vessels for mooring or guiding though a channel.
Donut fenders are ideal for areas of high tidal swings, lock entrances, turning structures, approach channels and breasting dolphins. They also possible to install any combination of mooring points or secondary fenders to the external donut fender.
