Wood description: Per stem, cedrela is uniform in colour. Colour and weight differences between logs are attributed to differences in growing conditions, with light in colour usually corresponding to light in weight. Cedrela is uniform in texture and sometimes has a slight striation or flame pattern caused by the semi-ringing of the wood. This cedar has a typical smell and is often used for cigars boxes or the inside of humidors. Dark lines are caused by sweated out contents which are easily removed.
Botanical name: Cedrela odorata.
Growth area: Tropical America
