Wood description: The heartwood is yellowish in colour with dark brown veins running parallel to the voomas. When the wood is quarter-sawn or cut, the well-known zebra-like stripe marking appears, which gives the wood its name. The brown veins occur at intervals of 5-10 mm and are 0.5-1.5 mm wide. Sawn wood shows a busy flame pattern.
