“Guru” is a 24m aluminium workboat, constructed to meet the requirements of the Australian Transport Council, National Standard for Commercial Vessels.
Alternative crew and passenger arrangements allow the vessel to operate in both 1B (3 Crew and 22 Un-berthed Passenger) and 2B (12 Crew and 6 Berthed Passengers) categories. The layout contains a total of 18 berths in 8 cabins, a galley and cold store, mess area, 3 heads including showers and day head, laundry and workshop. The wheelhouse includes a primary helm with an aft facing and wing control locations, open plan office space and a lounge area. The interior is fully air conditioned.
The working deck area is in the region of 80m², and includes mounting for stern anchors, a moon pool opening through the wingdeck, Palfinger PK 3200 M deck crane and custom “A-Frame” gantry with a maximum rated load of 10 tonnes, which can all be configured to create a total of 40 tonnes of deck cargo.
The cavernous machinery spaces contain Caterpillar C 18 ACERT propulsion engines rated to 705 horsepower, amongst other plant systems such as waste water treatment plant, air conditioning, water maker, twin Caterpillar C4.4 generators for house electrical requirements, Caterpillar C 9 generator and hydraulic reservoirs and pumps for dynamic positioning system, anchoring, deck crane and A Frame gantry.
