Ballast equipment is crucial for the operation of tankers. The MarFlex Ballast Deepwell Pump Concentric pump discharges water from the ballast water tanks to trim the vessel during loading or off-loading. The pumps, including E-motors, are ATEX (ATmosphères EXplosibles) certified.
The deepwell pump has four main sections;
The electric motor (located on deck)
Deck arrangement (including top cover and deck trunk)
Pipe stack (located in the tank)
Pump head (located in the tank)
Materials Used
All ballast pumps are standard-made in stainless steel A316L. We can also supply other materials such as Duplex steel and Super Duplex steel. These materials make the pump cost-efficient while still offering high resistance to corrosive seawater.
The benefits of the MarFlex Deepwell pump
Total system efficiency is approximately 20% higher compared to a hydraulic-driven system,
Low noise levels
Easy and quick installation and commissioning thanks to the electrical drive
Robust and straightforward AC motor
Clean system (no potential leaking of oil on deck)
Less maintenance
The pump bearings will never run dry because of the oil-lubricated shaft
The pump can run at relatively high speeds because of the oil-lubricated shaft and bearings
