Stylish superliner: Aurora was the first ship delivered by MEYER WERFT in the new millennium. The luxury liner first set sail for P&O Cruises in 2000. Aurora is an upgraded version of Oriana, which left our shipyard in 1995. Measuring 270 metres in length, Aurora is larger than its predecessor and can accommodate 1,878 passengers in 939 staterooms. Its sleek design is reminiscent of the earlier model, but the new ship has significantly more balcony cabins and a rounder stern.
Aurora’s design is typically British – a large amount of marble, bronze and natural stone can be found in the atrium, where an enormous waterfall statue proudly honours Aurora, goddess of the dawn. With a shopping arcade, cinema, theatre, casino, nightclub and library, Aurora has everything you could possibly expect from a modern cruise ship. And its covered pool ensures swimming fun – even in bad weather.
As the ship’s engine works at just under 55,000 horsepower, passengers can let the world pass them by at a rate of 24 knots.
