The “FERRY NAMINOUE” is an 8,000 GT-class cargo and passenger/car ferry, plying a domestic route between Kagoshima and Okinawa.
The ship was designed and built at MHI Group’s Shimonoseki Shipyard & Machinery Works and was delivered to the owners Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency and A” Line Ferry Co., Ltd., on September 19, 2012. This vessel adopts a single-screw, two-engine propulsion system, which saves fuel consumption and reduces CO2 emission. It is also the first ferry to install the Mitsubishi Air Lubrication System, our proprietary technology that reduces frictional resistance between the ship hull and seawater by introducing a layer of air bubbles blown from the ship’s bottom.
