Grainger designs – originally designers of flat-out racers – have succeeded in giving the Raku 40 the comfort of a cruiser. The slightly strong construction ensures little wet surface and the catamaran concept for a high sail-carrying capacity. The inverted bow (to prevent “diving”) and the tight lines play give the catamaran a beautiful, almost futuristic, appearance.

Layouts
The standard layout includes a central hull bathroom and a second forward bathroom in the port. A four cabin layout is available with central bathrooms in both hulls.
Cockpit
There are two cockpit layouts: one with the steering station at the rear and one with the helm positioned against the cabin. In both cases it is a double steering position.
Engines
Inboard diesels are preferred for open ocean sails and rod crossover security, but outboard engines can be fitted if the boat is primarily in protected waters. An Oceanvolt electrical system can also be installed.
Swords and fixed keels
The standard design comes with swords, but the cat can also be fitted with fixed keels.
