The 2020 Powerplay 70 Model is designed in collaboration with Powerplay design team -director of design James Dewing with Tim Witherington Naval architecture AYD (Aus). Volvo Penta (Sweden) and Icarus Marine (South Africa) in association with Silent dynamics Computer fluid design “CFD” (Germany).
An around the world design but the best in the business.
The PP70 is the newest performance displacement hull in the Powerplay Generation 4 series. Now built at the Ocean Marina Thailand facility.
With high performance the key design goal we have collaborated with Icarus marine to provide low drag hull and further developed this hull with Hydrofoils as an option for addition high speed and range. In association with Silent dynamics, testing and developing the underwater hull by virtual tank testing, known as CFD results, i.e., Computer fluid design which measures the hull and produces trim / drag and performance results. Which is then used to predict accurately speed and fuel consumption figures.
Input from Volvo Penta Sweden further developed the design with IPS 950 and 1350 installation providing incredible Performance lean fuel consumption low noise and above all unmatched maneuverability.
Structural design and engineering to Lloyds Specification Complies with Australian Maritime Safety Authority - Commercial Survey. By AYD Tim Witherington Naval architecture. This ensures structural integrity, commercial value
The G4 design by James Dewing, Accredited ship builder and surveyor, Director of design for Powerplay Catamarans since year 2000. Says several design features are important to me - not only Great looks and unmatched performance but also sensible serviceability.
