Galley water contains fats oil and grease (FOG) which can cause clogging issues in tanks and pipelines. These fats, oils and grease are very rich organic constituents on which micro-organisms can thrive. Removing FOG from the galley water reduces the risk of clogging of pipelines and dramatically reduces yearly maintenance costs for tank cleaning. Another high advantage of removing FOG from the galley water is that the waste water treatment system can be made 20% more compact, which saves floorspace, weight, waste sludge
production and energy.
The compact PureBlue Grease Separator++ uses the physicochemical properties of the FOG to separate them from the galley water at a temperature of 40-50 degrees Celsius. The system is designed to be the smallest possible separator that can handle galley’s peak loads. An automated cleaning cycle separates the concentrated FOG and removes 5-10 litres of waste FOG per day.
