Reinforced mounting flange can be cut to size to fit a variety of applications including Downeast style lobster boats with narrow keels. Although we recommend upgrading traditional stuffing boxes to our ISB-SA self-aligning shaft seal system, we also manufacture traditional bronze stuffing boxes suitable for lower horsepower new boat builds and as a replacement to existing stuffing box systems. Our heavy duty bronze stuffing boxes offer exceptional quality, safety, performance, and value. They are machined from full body cast bronze; in other words, we don’t create void spaces and false shoulders in our stuffing boxes to save on material or construction costs. Our SB-Series Stuffing Boxes are compatible with our exclusive RE Thomas Marine Hardware stuffing box wrenches. One wrench fits the packing nut, while the other wrench adjusts the locking nut. We recommend three rows of Duramax Ultra-X packing be used when packing our traditional bronze stuffing boxes and self-aligning shaft seals.
