The “V2000” is a 13m Fast Patrol Boats specifically designed for law enforcement duties and for patrolling missions in coastal waters: 80 units have been built so far. It is made of FRP using an innovative construction technique, consisting in building hull and superstructure with composite materials of increasing stiffness from bottom to top: the hull bottom is in single skin stiffened glass fibre; hull sides are in balsa sandwich, deck and superstructures are in carbon fibres. The structural construction is made using the under-vacuum infusion process. The boat is available with waterjet propulsion (allowing to achieve a speed in excess of 45 knots) and with surface propellers (allowing a maximum speed of 55 knots).
