Wind Turbine Installation Vessel Constructing the world’s biggest WTIV Samsung Heavy Industries received an order for a wind turbine installation vessel in October 2010. The vessel iscapable of transporting and installing 12 units of 3.6 MW-class wind power generators simultaneously, and can install one generator every 36 hours, even in the harsh conditions of 20 m/s wind velocity and 2.5 meter-high aves. The vessel is fixed to the seabed with six pillars, and thebody of the vessel is lifted into the air with 10m distance between the sea surface and the vessel. This structure minimizes the impact of waves and wind and maximizes accuracy and speed in installation.
