All SBA beds are manufactured of first class material, design and craftsmanship to meet requirements specific for marine conditions: non-combustibility, economy of space and weight, durability, easy handling by personnel as well as passengers, and easy care. Proven standard constructions serve as a basis for products, but the final design is often the result of co-operation between the shipowner’s architect, the shipyard and SBA’s designers: a tailor-made product for each specific project. On board ferries there has been a need of alternatives for simple and practical sofa beds for passenger cabins. To meet this need SBA designed a backrest that combined with a single bed serves as a sofa in cabins. The bedclothes, including an overlay mattress, are stored inside the backrest during the day, while the bed can be used as a sofa. The bedding can easily be released from the backrest for making the bed for the night. The backrest and the bed mattress are upholstered with fabric chosen by the customer.
