Sparcraft takes charge of carbon projects in collaboration with Lorima, a subsidiary of the Wichard Group, which has been equipping IMOCA, ULTIMS, Megayachts and now Axxon (Class40′, etc.) for many years. Many projects have been carried out with Sparcraft’s expertise, both standard and for the Figaro II and Figaro III, as well as “custom-made” projects. ⊕ “Durability” : time does not or nearly not alter mechanical performance of carbon; ⊕ Lightness : (volumic density <2) : the gain of section weight can reach up to 30-40 %. ⊕ Weight to inertia ratio, geometry or aerodynamics,…: SC carbon sections have been well designed and carefully expertised according to sophisticated calculating methods; ⊕ Optimising: The manufacturing process aligns a maximum of fibres to the mast axis (UD 0°) and integrates localised loads (selective reinforcement); ⊕ Design & Performance : longitudinal and lateral tapered masthead options THE MEANS : The wide knowledge gained by the Wichard group companies enables us to provide a global conception for the One Off projects. Research and production capacities are shared to finalize the most suitable solution for our customers, in partnership with: – LORIMA (Lorient – France) also a subsidiary of the Wichard Group. Based in Lorient, Lorima benefits from dedicated production capacities and recognized experience in the field of carbon masts, from “OEM” shipyards to the IMOCA or Class Ultim series. – Axxon composites (Romania) : over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing of carbon masts and the composite industry. The team masters all the technologies needed to produce the best masts, booms and rigging.
