Description

Born from our determination to create the world’s fastest race boat on corrected time. This is a long story of innovation and minute attention to detail, backed by the America’s Cup expertise of Botin Partners. The team settled on a 51-foot hull length, earning rating credit that could be spent elsewhere. Notably, the use of a trim tab system on the trailing edge of the keel stem eliminates leeway, allows the boat to point higher and reduces drag. High performance water ballast, lightweight carbon foam sandwich lay-up and refined handling reduces the crew requirement to 11 people – significantly less that any other boat. High modulus carbon spars, AeroSix carbon rigging and high-performance deck hardware also contribute to keeping displacement to just 6.3 tonnes. Simulations suggest that the wallyrocket51 can outperform any competition under IRC and ORC ratings. Whether in classic Med regattas, ocean racing or shorthanded round the cans, the wallyrocket51 has the potential to win. And she offers the advantages of a one design - notably lower unit cost and a pool of likeminded owners to race in real time. At the helm of the technical project are: Botin Partners as Naval Architects Pure as Structural Engineering Vasco Vascotto and Guillermo Parada as Project Developers The design and styling of the wallyrocket51 is the result of a concerted effort by Luca Bassani, the Wally Design Team and Studio Santa Maria Magnolfi. The technical partners and suppliers are: APM: Keel Manufacturer Cariboni: Hydraulic System Supplier Southern Spars: Rig Manufacturer Future Fibre: Standing Rigging Manufacturer Harken: Deck Hardware Supplier Gurit: Composite Materials Supplier
