The Tyee Spirit sculling rowboat, with its exquisite lapstrake-style planking, has all the features of the Whitehall Spirit® 14 rowboat in a hull that is slightly wider and fuller, and can carry an even larger load. Almost anyone can row this boat with no difficulty.
This boat is custom made by our master craftsmen in our shop in Victoria BC Canada. It is built to last 100 years or longer providing rowing pleasure for generations of rowers. Our commitment to the highest quality plus superior design makes this the best boat of its type in the marketplace. It is CE certified and US Coast Guard approved. Built-in buoyancy makes it virtually unsinkable
In the Tyee 14 sculling rowboat, you can row in locations or conditions that are way too rough for a racing scull or even an open water shell. Two or three strokes take her up to speed – the long, smooth glide needs to be experienced to be believed. A speed of 4 to 5 knots (6 to 9 km/h) can be maintained for hours with little to no strain on the rower.
The slide seat unit itself is installed or removed in minutes, converting the boat back to a traditional oars-on-the-gunnel fixed seat rowboat perfect for carrying three or four persons, or if an outboard motor is utilized such as the Torqeedo electric outboard.
A large stowage locker is built-in and accessed through a hatch on the foredeck, great for stowing such items as small gas tanks, tackle boxes, or lifejackets to be left aboard, dry and secure. On top of this is a perfect spot for the dog to lounge.
