The Young 75 design concept was to produce an economical, easily driven hull shape that could achieve high average speeds without pushing the boat or crew hard. It also had to be beautiful and easily sailed by 2 people in any situation. Stability was enhanced with a canting keel that effectively moved the keel’s ballast 45deg to windward with push button ease.
This canting keel design was among the first generation of canting keel designs and this vessel also featured twin canted asymetrical daggerboards for upwind sailing. This is a vessel that will truely rewards tweaking and sailing well. A real delight to sail.
This design was also full of design innovations - everything from the thru hull anchoring system, Carbon mainsheet arch/bimini top "wing" thru to the retracting/canting keel/rudder system. The Young 75 can reduce draft to a minimal 1.3m allowing passage into shallow draft mooring areas yet still maintain sufficient stability and steerage under power.
The Young 75 has a minimalist exterior appearance, sleek lines and clever detail in all fittings and fixtures. The interior is more traditional with vertical timber panelling, leather and 3 x guest cabins.
