Böning Automationstechnologie GmbH & Co. KG
Who we are
BÖNING GROUP - German Multinational Company
Our company’s founding stone was laid in 1977 with the establishment of the Engineering Firm Böning. In 1996, it became the Engineering Firm Böning GmbH, which was renamed to Böning Automationstechnologie GmbH & Co. KG in 2003. From the very beginning, the development and manufacture of electronic devices and systems for ship automation was a major focal point of all company activities.
Originally rooted in commercial shipping, we have also been successfully active in the area of super and mega yachts since 1996. In the meantime, our devices and systems, the majority of which we have developed and manufactured ourselves by the way, are found on more than 14,000 commercial ships and yachts (as of 2020).
By now, a staff of approximately 100, among them about 20 engineers in the area of development alone, are employed here in Ganderkesee in an area of nearly 4000 m² for office, production, and storage space. We have subsidiaries in Italy, USA, Spain, Brazil and Croatia, as well as worldwide representatives and distribution partners. This allows us to better meet the demands for competent service and short routes, especially by shipping companies and yacht owners.
The diesel engine manufacturer MAN in Nuremberg has been one of our customers since 1997. For instance, we supply MAN with the MMDS series for monitoring, control and diagnosis of high-speed diesel engines. Currently (as of 2020), more than 14,000 ships, mainly yachts and work boats, have been equipped with MAN engines, as well as the engine electronics we have developed and produced. Starting in 2013, we have delivered the devices under our name BÖNING. We supply spare parts as well. These parts are not only supplied by MAN, but also by direct sales to anyone who places an order with us.
One of our recipes for success is based on the close cooperation with our customers, resulting in creation of practice-oriented and reliable devices and systems. From this positive synergy grows a steady expansion of our competence. Here, we point out especially the integrated alarm systems which affect practically all areas of ships.
Safety relevant devices and systems are generally type approved according to DNV and other classification societies.
Böning Automationstechnologie (Germany) is DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 certified and also a NMEA member (National Marine Electronics Association).
