SEABUS - CATAMARANI MULTIRUOLO

Who we are

INNOVATION, QUALITY AND INDUSTRY 4.0

SEABUS are high performance multi-role catamarans designed for a wide range of maritime activities including coastal reconnaissance, day trips, port operations, freight transport, oceanographic research, water sampling campaigns, environmental protection / disasters, fishing activities etc.

SEABUS is a registered trademark of the SMC ITALIA company specialized in the processing of composite materials for the aerospace sector.

In recent years, SEABUS has been enriched with collaborators who in the majority of cases are in the company, achieving a degree of familiarity and perfectly shared objectives.

SEABUS has always allocated an important part of its turnover to the research and development of its products with the support of the Department of Industrial Engineering of the Federico II University of Naples in order to always be at the forefront.

The production part operates in accordance with the quality management system AS9100D / EN 9100: 2018 (AEROSPAZIO) and is supported by a consolidated computer system which, in addition to managing information on the state of production stocks and production phases, allows traceability of raw materials used. This is a very important detail in the naval sector to keep the value, safety and functionality of its products high even after many years.

The commercial division represents another important pride of SEABUS. More than 75% of the turnover is achieved abroad thanks to a consolidated network of distributors.

For years, the European Union has represented the domestic market of SEABUS where the Italian market, France, Spain and Portugal clearly represent the most important markets.

Over the years, the SEABUS range has been able to evolve according to the needs of the various markets and today ranges from the passenger transport segment to coastal patrol and the cinema sector.

A special compartment has been developed to follow special projects that, by touching more skills, cross multiple segments of the range.

One of the best results of this department is linked to the Blue Economy with the development of low hydrodynamic resistance hulls to accommodate hybrid or zero emission propulsion systems.

The goal, fully achieved, was to develop a home automation system capable of remotely communicating with the Ground Station by intervening in the control of the operating conditions, being able to modify them to effectively and efficiently carry out the various assigned mission profiles or to take advantage of the facilities. provided for the incentives to INDUSTRY 4.0.

A good combination that summarizes the search for new products, the constant quality of the components and the construction methodology and the commercial spirit of SEABUS is represented by both the technical and commercial collaboration with the brands FPT, VOLVO PENTA, GARMIN, VETUS, SCHENKER.

Our values

SEABUS AND THE BLUE ECONOMY
"When you want to innovate, you have to be prepared for anyone who will tell you that you are crazy."
(Larry Ellison)
SEABUS has always reinvested part of its turnover in research projects for the development of catamarans suitable for intermodal transport and with "zero emission" propulsion capable of meeting the requirements of INDUSTRY 4.0.
In recent years, more and more often, we have heard of the blue economy, the blue economy. A model of economic development, which aims to revolutionize the world economy through a sustainable approach.
The term blue economy, as it is easy to guess, alludes to water, but it goes beyond this element. It was introduced, for the first time in 2010, by the Belgian economist Gunter Pauli, in his book "Blue economy. 10 years. 100 innovations. 100 million jobs". In those pages, Pauli introduces a new form of sustainable economy, similar to the green economy, but different from it.
This environmentalist vocation could lead to the exchange of the blue economy with the green economy. In reality, the first represents an evolution of the second: while the green economy asks companies to invest resources in reducing the environmental impact, the blue economy intends to completely eliminate emissions harmful to the planet, revolutionizing production systems through biomimicry.
A very interesting approach of the blue economy, in fact, is precisely that linked to transport and, in particular, to the transport of goods. As mentioned, the term blue economy alludes to the important resource represented by the sea. Suffice it to say that, according to European Union estimates, the maritime economy produces about 340 billion euros in turnover, employing 1.2 million people.
For this reason, in recent years, much has been done to identify a European definition of the blue economy, but also to promote this model of sustainable development. Specific projects, in fact, have been approved in order to facilitate the transit of goods from road transport to maritime transport. In this sense, intermodal transport plays a decisive role, i.e. that form of freight transport that combines different means (vehicles, trains, airplanes and ships) exploiting the specificities of each in order to reduce time, costs and environmental impact.
Despite what it may seem, Italy is one of the most advanced countries in this area. Suffice it to say that the fleet flying the Italian flag, with a tonnage of 16.5 million gross tonnage, is among the largest in the world. This offers immense possibilities to reduce the environmental impact of national transport.
